Books available for review

SWAP receives a wide range of recently published books for review by social policy and social work academics and postgraduate students in UK higher education. You may request to review any of the books available for review and will be entitled to keep the review copy.

Book reviews for SWAP are intended to:

  • help teaching staff, particularly those new to teaching, to consider texts that may support their work with students
  • provide a critical dialogue on the structure and content of books to facilitate learning and teaching.

Below is our current list of books available for review. To request a book for review, please complete the 'Request a book for review' form or call the SWAP office.

You will be sent the book with some guidelines for reviewers (PDF, 58KB) and we like to set a target of one month for completion of the review. SWAP is keen to build up a collection of book reviews, so if you would like to review a book that is not on the list, e.g. a book that you currently use in your teaching, please do let us know. Each reviewer may review up to two books per academic year.

You can view completed book reviews in our resources section.
