Become a SWAP representative
In order to ensure effective two way communication between SWAP and social policy and social work educators SWAP use a ‘Key Contacts’ system. This system aims to have a contact in every department or school which runs courses (undergraduate, postgraduate, professional development and / or continuing education) in social work or social policy in the UK.
The Key Contact role includes:
- Ensuring colleagues within the department / school are aware of the opportunities for involvement with the Subject Centre and encouraging them to participate e.g. project funding calls, resource guides, communities of practice, discussion groups, events and professional development, access to a broader community and the UK wide information network
- Receiving communications from the Subject Centre and disseminating to all relevant staff within the department / school
- Ensuring the central learning and teaching unit in your University is aware of their role with the Subject Centre
- Recognition of the role within the formal structures of your University
- Alerting SWAP to any learning, teaching or assessment issues arising from the work within your University, also of relevant projects, publications etc that could be shared with colleagues across HEIs
- Convening with other Key Contacts in their own institution or region
- Maximising opportunities to encourage staff to
- Consider their strategy for helping students learn
- Evaluate and disseminate good practices in learning and teaching.
