Description
This project explored the processes and outcomes of students' learning about the law whilst on practice placement. It brought together educators, practice teachers, managers, students, service users and carers to explore law learning in practice. Previous work on law in social work education has identified that law often has a low profile in students' placements, and that more needed to be done to maximise the benefit of learning about law in practice. The project produced resources to guide educators, practice teachers, assessors, students, service users and agencies in promoting practice learning about social work law.
This project has filled a serious gap in the knowledge base available to educators and others about how students' learning may best be promoted, and how the emphasis on law in the academic curriculum can be translated into understanding of good practice in practice learning.
