Description

Drawing upon the experience of the first three cohorts of under 21 year old students on the new BA (hons) social work at one HEI, this project reports their experiences and explores implications for teaching, learning and support. Focus groups used in the early stages of the research helped to formulate the themes and detailed aspects of the questionnaires used with the whole sample of younger students. This combination of rich qualitative and quantitative data allows both a contextualised and full account of their experiences within that particular programme to be appreciated, but also allows for some degree of generalisation in respect of likely experiences of younger students elsewhere. Implications for recruitment, teaching, learning, support and assessment are explored in the research and will be shared during the life of the dissemination project.
